Abstract

Attendance management for field-based garden workers requires a mechanism that integrates user identity, attendance time, and location in an accurate and easily monitored process. Manual attendance recording may cause delays in data recapitulation, difficulties in tracing attendance records, and limitations in validating employee locations. This study aims to develop an Android-based attendance application to optimize attendance management for garden workers in Hameli Ate Village. The system was developed using the Waterfall model, consisting of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Flutter was used as the frontend, Laravel as the backend API, MySQL as the database, and GPS/geolocation as the mechanism for validating workers’ positions based on predefined workplace coordinates and radius. The application provides login, check-in and check-out attendance, attendance history, leave and permission requests, monitoring, workplace location management, holiday management, and attendance reporting features. Functional testing was designed using Black Box Testing, while usability evaluation was planned using the System Usability Scale (SUS). The development results indicate that the system accommodates the main requirements of both workers and administrators and provides centralized attendance data management. However, actual testing data and SUS scores from real users were not yet available; therefore, the system’s quantitative success rate and usability level cannot yet be conclusively reported.
