Abstract

The risk of falling is one of the most common patient safety incidents in hospitals and can result in injury or even death. Fall prevention is influenced by various factors, one of which is the support provided by the head nurse as a leader in nursing care. Support provided through emotional, informational, instrumental, evaluative, and appreciative aspects plays a role in increasing nurses’ adherence to fall prevention measures. Research Objective: To analyze the relationship between head nurse support and fall risk prevention at the Banjarmasin Islamic Hospital. Research Method: A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was used. The study sample consisted of 58 inpatient unit nurses selected using total sampling. Data collection was conducted using a head nurse support questionnaire and a fall risk prevention questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman’s Rho test. Results: Most ward manager support fell into the “adequate” category, with 47 respondents (81%), while fall risk prevention fell into the “good” category, with 38 respondents (65.5%). The Spearman’s Rho test yielded a p-value of 0.007 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.351. The correlation coefficient indicates a positive relationship with moderate correlation strength. Conclusion: The study demonstrates a significant relationship between ward manager support and fall risk prevention.
