The Correlation Between Characteristics and the Quality of Life of Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the Special Polyclinic of RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the joint that can have a negative impact on the quality of life (QoL). Characteristics of patients with rheumatoid arthritis are factors that influence determining the QoL. The objective of this research is to find the correlation between characteristics with the QoL in patients with rheumatoid arthritis at Special Polyclinic of Rheumatology RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The research employed in this study is an analytical cross-sectional method. Data were collected with the SF-36 questionnaire in November 2023 – December 2023. The population of this study was patients with rheumatoid arthritis at Poliklinik Khusus Reumatologi with a total sample of 43 respondents. The results of this study shows male respondents, early adulthood, still working, low educational level, and duration of illness less than five years had poor quality of life. The results of the Chi-Square analysis, showed a presence correlation between gender (p=0,039), occupation (p=0,018), and education (p=0,038) with the QoL of AR patients. However, there was no correlation between age (p=0,333) and duration of illness (p=0,799) with the QoL of AR patients. To sum up, there is a correlation between gender, occupation, and education with the QoL of AR patients and also there is no correlation between age and duration of illness with the QoL of AR patients.
