Workplace accidents can result in physical, psychological, and social impacts that affect a worker's ability to return to work and maintain productivity. The Return to Work (RTW) program is an extension of work accident insurance benefits that provides support to injured workers until they are able to resume employment. This study aims to explore the factors influencing the return-to-work process for participants in the RTW program, utilizing the Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP) model as a conceptual framework. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed. Participants consisted of workers currently or previously enrolled in the RTW program, selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews based on the PEOP framework, and supporting documentation, followed by thematic analysis. The results indicate that all components of the PEOP model influence the success of the RTW process. Individual and environmental factors emerged as the most dominant influences—specifically internal motivation, physical condition, family and coworker support, and company policies that facilitate worker adaptation. Job modifications helped align worker capacity with job demands, although obstacles such as limited access to healthcare services and coordination issues among stakeholders persisted. These findings underscore the importance of a multidimensional approach to ensuring the success of RTW programs and provide a foundation for developing more comprehensive occupational therapy interventions and employment policies.
