Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and work ability among online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) drivers in Depok City. A quantitative cross-sectional design was applied to 129 drivers recruited through purposive sampling. Work ability was measured using the Work Ability Index (WAI), and musculoskeletal complaints were identified using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ). Data were analyzed using Fisher's Exact Test and Spearman's correlation. The prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints was high: 62.0% in the past 7 days and 92.2% in the past 12 months, predominantly in the lower back, shoulder, and neck. MSD complaints in both the past 7 days (p = 0.000) and 12 months (p = 0.023) were significantly associated with work ability. Most drivers had good work ability (52.7%) with a mean WAI score of 36.93 ± 4.54. Age (r = -0.479; p = 0.001), BMI (r = -0.277; p = 0.001), marital status (p = 0.000), and social support (r = 0.251; p = 0.004) were also significantly associated with work ability. Prevention of MSDs through ergonomic education, regular stretching, and occupational health programs is recommended.
