Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) contribute significantly to the economy but face challenges in resource efficiency and waste management. This community service program aimed to strengthen MSMEs’ understanding and initial capacity to adopt sustainable green economy practices. Conducted online on September 26, 2026, with the SSQ Holistik Internasional MSME Community in Malang, Indonesia, it involved 40 participants. The participatory approach included needs assessment, education, mentoring, case discussions, action-plan development, and evaluation. Topics covered energy, water, and raw-material efficiency, waste reduction, reuse, segregation, and 3R principles. Pre-test and post-test results showed average understanding increased from 65 to 88, gaining 23 points (35.38%), with a moderate normalized gain of 0.66. These findings suggest education and mentoring improve initial understanding, although changes in business behavior and environmental performance remain unverified. Future programs should measure resource consumption, waste generation, cost efficiency, and implementation of enterprise-level green action plans to assess practical outcomes and long-term sustainability across participating MSMEs over a longer monitoring period
