Abstract

Student engagement in English language learning remains a challenge in schools, particularly when instructional practices rely heavily on conventional methods that provide limited visual appeal and opportunities for interactive learning. Therefore, innovative technology-enhanced learning approaches are needed to foster students’ motivation and improve their English language competence. This community service program aimed to enhance students’ engagement and English language competence through the implementation of interactive gamification using Genially at SMP IT Imam Syafii Cendikia Pekanbaru. The program was conducted through several stages, including program socialization, training on the use of interactive gamification media, implementation of the technology in English language learning, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The participants were 25 eighth-grade students. Program evaluation was conducted through classroom observation and a participant satisfaction questionnaire. The results indicated that 85% of the students were more interested in learning English through interactive media, 82% reported being more actively engaged in the learning process, and 88% perceived the learning experience as more enjoyable. In addition, the questionnaire results showed that the majority of participants responded very positively to the program. These findings suggest that Genially-based interactive gamification can serve as an innovative learning strategy to foster student engagement and support the development of English language competence
